§ Mr. Loydenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he last met the Liverpool Inner Area Partnership; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ShoreI chaired a meeting of the Liverpool partnership committee this morning.
Our discussions focussed on the preparation of the partnership's inner area programme for 1980–83, with particular reference to the first financial year concerned, 1980–81. I was able to inform the partnership that a significant increase in the level of resources would be made available in that year.
I have decided that the inner city partnerships should receive a further £19 million of urban programme resources in 1980–81. This increase represents a growth of over 25 per cent. in real terms over the allocations which have been made for 1979–80, and underlines the Government's commitment to maintain the momentum of the inner city policy.
The partnership authorities are being separately informed of the details: the total allocations to each partnership for 1980–81 are now as follows; allocations to each partnership for 1979–80 are in brackets:
£ million (at 1978 survey prices) Liverpool 13.5 (10.8) Manchester/Salford 13.9 (11.2) Birmingham 14.2 (11.4) Newcastle/Gateshead 9.8 (7.8) Docklands 20.4 (16.3) Hackney/Islington 13.2 (10.3) Lambeth 7.6 (5.8)
