Mr. Maurice Macmillan

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many pupils in the United Kingdom are currently studying (a) French, (b) German, (c) Italian, and (d) Spanish to O-level or equivalent standard and A-level or equivalent standard; what proportion of children in the relevant age groups these figures represent; and what are the comparable figures in these languages for each of the past 15 years.
