§ Mr. Sainsburyasked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if the Government will support the Seychelles' proposal to the International Whaling Commission for a cetacean sanctuary in the Indian Ocean.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithThis proposal will be considered at the annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission to be held from 9–13 July. My right hon. Friend the Minister is presently reviewing United Kingdom policy on whaling, and I shall make clear the Government'S policy in the opening speech which I aim to make to the conference.
