§ Mr. Ginsburgasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made by the Local Government Boundary Commission in submitting proposals for the metropolitan district councils; and if he will make a statement about the 1980 metropolitan district council election.
§ Mr. WhitelawOrders have been made providing new electoral arrangements for the metropolitan districts of Barnsley, Bury, Oldham, Sandwell, Sefton and Solihull. Reports have been received from the Local Government Boundary Commission for England on the future electoral arrangements for Bolton, Bradford, Calderdale, Coventry, Doncaster, Dudley. Liverpool, Manchester, Rochdale, Rotherham, St. Helens, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Walsall, Wigan and Wirral and orders implementing these arrangements should be made in time for the 1980 elections. The Commission has not yet submitted reports on Birmingham, Gateshead, Kirklees, Knowsley, Leeds, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North Tyneside. Salford, Sheffield, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Wakefield and Wolverhampton.
