§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Minister of Transport if, in view of his decision not to proceed with the previous Government's proposed concessionary fares scheme for elderly and disabled people, he has any alternative proposals for giving them special help.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeAlthough we are not proposing to introduce a nationwide concessionary fares scheme I hope that local authorities will themselves continue to work together to reduce anomalies in schemes wherever possible. The problems of elderly and disabled people generally are being considered by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services.
