HL Deb 27 June 1979 vol 400 c1602WA
Lord BEAUMONT of WHITLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to hold an inquiry into the benefits or otherwise of a commercial fast breeder reactor and, if so, whether they will allocate funds to bodies of citizens objecting to the reactor to help them prepare and present their case.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT of the ENVIRONMENT (Lord Bellwin)

Any decision to build a commercial demonstration fast reactor (CDFR) in the United Kingdom would be subject to a full and thorough inquiry. It is not possible to forecast whether funds would be allocated to objectors.

House adjourned at eight minutes past eight o'clock.
