§ Mr. Skeet
asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will indicate in barrels 45W per day for the most recent dates for which figures are available the imports of crude oil and petroleum products by (a) the EEC, (b) the United States of America, and (c) Japan, and the total of world demand.

The following figures for the year 1978 are the latest available:

Oil imports¹ (million barrels per day)

EEC² 11.0

USA 8.7

Japan 5.2

¹Crude oil, natural gas liquids and petroleum products. Tonnages imported have been converted on the basis of 7.5 barrels=1 tonne.

²Excluding trade between EEC member countries.

Total world oil demand is about 60 million barrels per day.
