asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he intends to restore export credit guarantees for trade with Chile.

In its commercial operations ECGD follows the advice of its advisory council. The council recently recommended that the improvement in the Chilean economy warranted a resumption of medium-term cover as a commercial risk. I accepted this advice and accordingly ECGD announced on 8 June that it was putting this recommendation into effect. Cover for short-term credit has always been available.
