§ Mr. Arthur Lewis
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the inquiry into matters covering the Southall riots will deal with the fact that the police stopped electors from attending a public General Election meeting, 268W contrary to the Representation of the People Act 1948.
§ Mr. Whitelaw
It would not in my view be useful to deal with particular points raised by hon. Members in advance of the statement I intend to make to the House, when I have received and considered the commissioner's report on the disturbances at Southall and the police handling of them.
