HC Deb 11 June 1979 vol 968 c156W
Mr. Ronald W. Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, if, following the declaration contained in the Gracious Speech and emphasised in his speech on 17 May, on the rights of all tenants to buy their homes, he will include those tenants of the Crown Estates Commissioners, as being eligible to enjoy such rights.

Mr. Lawson

I have been asked to reply.

The Government's commitment is to give to councils and new town tenants the right to buy their homes. However, some Crown Estate tenants are already afforded the same rights of enfranchisement as are the tenants of a private landlord under the terms of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.
