asked the Minister of Transport what was the estimated average cost per road accident and road casualty, respectively, in Great Britain in 1978, broken down into fatal, serious, slight and damage only.

These estimates are based on the costs of lost output, medical and ambulance costs and a national allowance for the costs of pain, grief and suffering. Accident costs also include the costs of police and administration and damage to property.
