asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will make a statement on negotiations with the Institution of Professional Civil Servants about the pay in professional and technical grades within the Civil Service.

My right hon. and noble Friend the Lord President and I met a delegation from the Institution of Professional Civil Servants on Friday 20 July, and there have been discussions between the IPCS and officials from my Department subsequently. These are continuing and I hope that they will lead to an early resolution of this dispute.
