HL Deb 27 July 1979 vol 401 c2166WA

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What pesticides and herbicide products carry a clear warning of effects on human or animal life; and whether they will consider bringing regulations forward to ensure that all chemical products used for pest and weed control carry a clear bold warning on harmful effects on health and environment if carelessly handled.

All such products, which are marketed in the United Kingdom, bear on their labels a clear statement of the precautions necessary to avoid harmful effects on human and animal health or the environment. These labelling safeguards have been secured under the Pesticides Safety Precautions Scheme, and I am sending the noble Lord a booklet describing it. The Government are satisfied that new regulations are not required for this purpose.
