§ Mr. Harry Ewing
asked the Secretary of State for Trade how many companies in Scotland have taken advantage of the market entry guarantee scheme under section 8 of the Industry Act 1972 in each year since the Act was implemented; and what is the total number of employees in the companies concerned.
§ Mr. Parkinson
The market entry guarantee scheme is being operated on a two-year experimental basis by the Department of Trade on behalf of the British Overseas Trade Board. It does not form part of the assistance available under the Industry Act 1972. At this date one company in Scotland has taken advantage of the scheme. The number of employees is below 100.
