HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc676-7W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will increase the heating allowance paid to persons in receipt of supplementary benefit in order to meet the increased cost of paraffin.

Mrs. Chalker

The level of supplementary benefit heating addition is fixed by the Supplementary Benefits Commission, which takes into account expected price rises in all fuels. That the lowest rate will be increased from 85p to 95p this November and other rates will increase pro rata was announced by my right hon. Friend on 13 June.—[Vol. 968, c. 437–58.]
