HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 c632W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Minister of Transport what account he has taken of the extremely high railway noise level suffered by residents living in the Gade Valley area; and if he will consider this factor when designing the proposed M25 motorway.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The presence of the railway in the corridor was recognised in the selection of the preferred route. The relative configuration of the road and the railway prevents effective screening of the railway noise by the road.
