Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many electricity consumers have so far claimed discounts under the current scheme; at what total cost; what has been the average discount; and how these figures compare with those for the corresponding period of 1978.

(2) Some 48,000 consumers have so far claimed the discount in Northern Ireland (41,377 in 1978) and provisional figures show some 425,000 cash discounts to have been issued by post offices (195,000 in 1978)
