HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 c691W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if the Prison Officers' Association at Broadmoor has ever objected to the discharge of a particular patient; and, if so, when.

Mr. Patrick Jerkin

Not to my knowledge.

Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what action he is taking to ensure that former patients of Broadmoor can visit patients without having to demonstrate that clinical benefits will result;

(2) in what way the physician superintendent of Broadmoor has modified the restrictions that he imposed last autumn on visits by former patients.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

Subject to the patient concerned being willing and fit to receive the visits, visits by a former patient may now be made, by prior arrangement, unless the physician superintendent, in the exercise of his discretion, decides that such visits would be undesirable.
