Mr. Woolmer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the total numbers of health visitors, of district nurses and of midwives in each of the regions of England and Wales; what are the corresponding numbers per 10,000 population; and what were the corresponding numbers to the foregoing in 1975 and 1977.

The information requested for England is in the following table. Figures for 1978 or 1979 are not yet available. Comparable figures for Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.

Dewsbury district of the Kirklees area health authority and (b) the Leeds western district of the Leeds area health authority; what are the corresponding numbers per 10,000 population; and what were the corresponding numbers to the foregoing in 1975 and 1977.
