I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the information requested is as given in the table below:

tuency participated in the youth opportunities programme and the special temporary employment programme from 1 April 1978 to 31 March 1979.

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 25 July 1979; Vol. 971, c. 265–6],gave the following answer:

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that information relating to the Northern region is not available. It is estimated that by 31 March 1979 some 120 mentally handicapped young people had entered special programmes in the Durham county of which some 20 were in the Bishop Auckland constituency.
