HC Deb 26 July 1979 vol 971 c476W
Mr. Marland

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why he has been unable to make an offer to increase the salary payable to proprietors in general practice pharmacy with effect from 1 January; and when he expects to make an offer.

Dr. Vaughan

The pharmaceutical services negotiating committee gave advance notice last November that it would seek restoration of the relativities between working proprietors and employed managers which had been disturbed by the incomes policy of the previous Administration; but it is only within the last month, in the light of discussions with the Department, that the committee decided that its claim to that effect would not be accompanied by detailed evidence. I am now considering the claim sympathetically, and hope to give the committee an answer very soon.
