asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now state the detailed policy of the Government towards the Commission for Racial Equality and the Equal Opportunities Commission.

I have nothing to add to the replies given to questions by the hon. Member for Islington, Central (Mr. Grant) on 25 May, and by my hon. Friend the Member for Northampton, North (Mr. Marlow) on 13 July.

Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will direct the Equal Opportunities Commistion not to give further grants to the National Council for Civil Liberties and "Spare Rib".

Mr. Raison

My right hon. Friend has no power to do so. This is a matter for the Commission under section 54 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.
