Mr. Squire

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will set up an inquiry under the Companies Acts to inquire into the affairs of Coatex Ltd. and Fibacote Textural Coatings Ltd., now in liquidation.

Mr. Eyre

Both companies are in compulsory liquidation and there is no provision in the Companies Acts for inquiries by the Department of Trade in such cases. The Official Receiver has completed his inquiries into Fibacote Textural Coatings Ltd. His inquiries into Coatex Ltd. continue. If my hon. Friend will let me have any information he may have about this company, it will be forwarded to the Official Receiver.

I know of no reason for doing so. If my hon. Friend will let me have any information he may have about the companies, the question of an investigation will be considered.
