asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the aggregate cost to public funds, at an annualised rate, of supplementary benefits paid to those involved in industrial disputes and to their dependants, respectively, in the current year to date and in each of the years 1974 to 1978, inclusive.

Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many supplementary benefit recipients on the fuel direct system were suffering deductions (a) in excess of £10 per week, (b) between £7.50 and £10 per week, (c) between £5 and £7.50 per week, (d) between £2.50 and £5 per week and (e) between £1 and £2.50 per week at the most recent convenient date, differentiating when possible between gas and electricity deductions.
