Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the perinatal and infant mortality rates for Northern Ireland in 1977 by social class, parity and age of mother.

Mr. Alison,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 18 July 1979; Vol. 970, c. 725], gave the following answer:

The overall perinatal and infant mortality rates for 1977 are 21.1 per thousand live and stillbirths and 17.2 per thousand live births respectively. A breakdown of these figures in the form requested is not routinely available but a special study in 1974 provided the following figures:

the Province of the Budget. As far as inducements to industry are concerned, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Antrim, South (Mr. Molyneaux) on 18 July.—[Vol. 970, c. 725.]
