HC Deb 24 July 1979 vol 971 c212W
Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any internal inquiries going on into the possible loss to his Department of national insurance contributions from hotel and catering workers whose pay is made up mainly from gratuities.

Mr. Prentice

I am aware of one individual case, which is being investigated, in which it is alleged that contributions have been underpaid by the employer. I shall be taking a close interest in the development of this case.

Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has received any representations on the way national insurance regulations affect the benefits payable to hotel and catering workers.

Mr. Prentice

I have received no representations on this subject.
