§ 36. Mr. Cryerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received regarding cuts in social services.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinI have received a number of representations from local120W authorities, voluntary organisations and professional bodies, expressing concern about the future resources available for the personal social services. I have made it clear that it is for the local authorities themselves to determine their own priorities and the deployment of their resources, but I have indicated that authorities should aim to protect, as far as possible, the most vulnerable in their care, and I have stressed the priority which the Government give to services which contribute to law and order.
