asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many consultants are required to bring the numbers up to the national average in the Rotherham and Doncaster area health authorities, respectively, in anaesthetics, general medicine, general surgery, mental illness and orthopaedic surgery.

I regret the information is not collected centrally on the detailed basis requested. Information about consultants is, however, available on a regional basis in the regional whole-time equivalent table for hospital medical staff in England and Wales at 30 September 1978, a copy of which is in the Library.
