Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Trade when negotiations between Great Britain and China over landing rights for British Airways in China began; what routes have been discussed; what sort of air services agreement is being sought by Great Britain; if this agreement includes any reference to a Hong Kong-Peking route; and if negotiations are presently stalled over the question of the sovereignty status of Hong Kong.

Negotiations for an air services agreement between the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China began in Peking on 18 May. They have covered the possibility of services between London and Peking, and between Hong Kong and cities in China. negotiations are still proceeding.
