HC Deb 23 July 1979 vol 971 c66W
Mr. Stan Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the public inquiry to be held in Preston on 29 August into the Ingol distributor road and consequent compulsory purchase orders will enable residents to present a case against the establishment of the Ingol distributor road per se.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The evidence put forward at the inquiry is very much in the hands of the parties who appear. It is the Development Corporation's intention to put forward a full case in support of the need for the road. It will be open to the objectors to advance their arguments including a challenge to the fundamental issue of whether the road is needed. The Secretary of State will take all the representations into account before making his decision.
