§ 45. Mr. Gummerasked the Minister of Transport whether he is yet able to make a statement on lorry weights in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. FowlerAs I told my hon. Friend the Member for Cambridge (Mr. Rhodes 751W James) on 22 May, the question whether there should be any change in the maximum weights of lorries is one of the issues for the independent inquiry into lorries and their impact on the environment.—[Vol. 967, c. 108.] As regards progress with the inquiry, I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Chipping Barnet (Mr. Chapman) earlier today.
