How many special constables are now in post under authorisation of the Atomic Energy Authority (Special Constables) Act 1976, and what is their annual cost.

Atomic Energy Authority constables are appointed under the provisions of the Special Constables Act 1923 and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Act 1954. There are 512 constables currently employed. In 1978–79 their cost was £2.8 million.
