HC Deb 06 July 1979 vol 969 c769W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what more recent information he has that either enhances or detracts from the decision, taken during the mid-sixties to ban the use of cyclamates.

Mr. Wiggin

I have been asked to reply.

All the available data on the safety in use of cyclamates is now being evaluated by the independent expert committees which advises the Government on matters of this sort, as part of an overall review of all sweetening matters, other than sugar, for use in food. We shall await the advice of the committees before deciding what action needs to be taken.
