HC Deb 05 July 1979 vol 969 c650W
Q38. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Prime Minister whether she is satisfied with the co-ordination between the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Social Services in relation to policy by procurators fiscal on the removal of kidneys for the purposes of transplant.

The Prime Minister

I am satisfied that the arrangements for the removal of kidneys for the purposes of transplant surgery from deceased persons in whom the procurator fiscal has an interest work smoothly, and that there is effective co-operation between my right hon. and Learned Friend the Lord Advocate and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, who have ministerial responsibilities for these matters in Scotland. My right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Social Services and for Scotland likewise co-operate closely on questions of general policy relating to the removal of kidneys from deceased persons for transplant surgery.
