HC Deb 31 January 1979 vol 961 c484W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will list the computer centres in Scotland for which he is responsible and the number of employees in each centre, differentiating between police computers and non-police computers; what is the capacity in terms of each computer so listed; what kind of information is being programmed; and to what use the information so programmed is being put.

Mr. Millan

I am responsible only for the Scottish Office computer service in Edinburgh, which has 390 employees. It has two computers, one with a capacity of two megabytes, the second with a capacity of six megabytes. Neither is used for police purposes.

The information processed relates to the wide range of functions of the Scottish Office and associated users.
