§ Mr. Hodgsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received in response to his White Paper "1981 Census of Population", Command Paper No. 7146.
§ Mr. MoyleRepresentations on the 1981 census were invited by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys from early in 1977; Cmnd. 7146, published in July 1978, took them into account and representations arising directly from it have been few. The two most frequent have been on change of address and on ethnicity. It has been represented that address five years ago should be asked in addition to address one year ago, and this is being considered. Consultation and tests on the form of an ethnic question continue. An announcement will be made in due course.
