asked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) how many train miles per year are driven by British Railways drivers and how many miles are driven per man shift; and what are the equivalent figures for each national railway in the EEC;

(2) what proportion of trains run by British Railways are one-man operated; and what is the equivalent proportion for each national railway in the EEC.
