asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (1) What stocks are held in Home Office Emergency Stores in the County of Devon with particular reference to Survey Meters, Dosimeters, and Field telephone sets; and
  2. (2) What is the Home Office policy on the issue of such stocks for the training of emergency volunteers.

(1) Some 8,000 survey meters and 40,000 dosimeters which form part of the national stockpile of radiac equipment are held at a Home Office store in Devonshire. No field telephones are stored for Home Defence purposes.

(2) One set of radiac instruments including 9 survey meters, 18 dosimeters and ancillary equipment is issued free on loan to each county council for training purposes.
