HC Deb 13 February 1979 vol 962 c467W
51. Mr. Tim Renton

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what forecasts of the annual cost of inflation-proofing Civil Service pensions were made for the White Paper on the Government's Expenditure Plans 1979–80 to 1982–3, Command Paper No. 7439.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

The forecasts of expenditure contained in the White Paper are expressed in terms of constant prices. Future pensions increase awards, which will depend on future price rises, do not therefore appear. However, the forecasts include £155 million in 1979–80, £147 million in 1980–81, £138 million in 1981–82 and £131 million in 1982–83 in respect of the increases in basic pensions that will become payable in those years as a result of past annual review orders.
