§ Mr. John MorrisThe latest available estimate of the percentage of the United Kingdom population living in Wales is 4.9 per cent. The percentages of expenditure required by the hon. Member were included in the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary to the Treasury to my hon. Friend the Member for Gravesend (Mr. Ovenden) on 17 January.—[Vol. 960, c.781-94.] The Welsh figures include local authority current expenditure figures which are approximations derived from combined England and Wales totals and must, therefore, be treated with caution. Information in respect of research institutions is not available.
