§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many persons in the area covered by the Macclesfield constituency have now been laid off as a result of the lorry drivers' dispute;
(2) how many persons in the textile industry have now been laid off as a result of the lorry drivers' dispute and how many of these workers are in the North-West region.

Estimates of lay-offs have been made only on broad bases and separate figures for all lay-offs are not generally available for local areas or for industries.
