§ Mr. FowlerI have already made it clear in a letter to the chairman of the British Railways Board that it is my firm policy that there should be no substantial cuts in the passenger rail network. A copy of the letter has been placed in the Library of the House.
§ 43. Mr. Ron Lewisasked the Minister of Transport if he has received the report of the Central Transport Consultative Committee on rural railways; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FowlerI discussed this report with the Central Transport Consultative Committee on 15 October. It contains some interesting proposals which I shall follow up in discussion with the chairman of the Railways Board.
