§ Mr. FowlerI intend to do all I can to encourage people using their cars to share them, particularly for journeys to and from work and in areas poorly served by public transport. As the TRRL report quoted illustrates, this could mean large resource savings. The Transport Bill now before the House will remove the remaining unnecessary barriers to ordinary people giving lifts in their private cars on a cost-sharing basis.
