asked Her Majesty's Government:

What were the amounts in (a) England and Wales, (b) Scotland and (c) Northern Ireland of:

  1. (i) local authority rates collected;
  2. (ii) receipts from Inland Revenue collectors' offices, and
  3. (iii) estimated Customs and Excise revenue;
in the years 1970–71, 1971–72 and 1977–78. pound rate to the market rate of sterling used for MCA purposes and on 2nd April would imply a devaluation of about 21 per cent.
