§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales what level of financial assistance is proposed by the Government for 1979–80 towards the work of the museums in Wales; and what percentage increase this shows over the assistance given in the present financial year.
§ Mr. Barry JonesMy right hon. and learned Friend proposes to make the following sums available towards the work of museums in Wales in 1979–80:
- National Museum of Wales, £3,907,010.
- Council of Museums in Wales, £53,000.
For the National Museum of Wales, this represents an increase of 27 per cent. on the original provision for 1978–79. For the Council of Museums in Wales the increase is 6 per cent.
