HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 c585W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether, in the light of the fact that the providing of a car to former Prime Ministers is costing the taxpayer a minimum of £12,800 per annum, he will make a charge for use to the users on the same basis as that made to Ministers of the Crown.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

Former Prime Ministers who are entitled to use a Government car service car on security grounds for all journeys by road are, like Ministers so entitled, charged for any private or party use on the basis of the current Civil Service mileage allowance.
