§ Dr. GilbertMinistry of Defence civil servants in the United Kingdom, when required to serve away from their home, are entitled to a weekly journey home at public expense. Servicemen stationed in the United Kingdom are entitled to four free travel warrants a year for return journeys from their duty station to any part of the United Kingdom. In addition, a married Serviceman who is separated from his family may be entitled to up to a further eight free travel warrants annually while separated. The individual conditions of service of civil servants and Servicemen are arrived at on their own merits within the whole package of pay and conditions for the very different jobs civilians and servicemen are employed to do.
