HC Deb 24 October 1978 vol 955 c809W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what proposals he has for the future development of Prestwick Airport for increased flights, in view of the intrinsic meteorological advantages enjoyed by the location of Prestwick Airport; and what plans have been considered for better links to and from the airport by express train service to Glasgow.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The British Airports Authority is holding a conference in Glasgow on 20th November to review the considerations affecting the distribution of air traffic among the Scottish lowland airports. This will enable all those concerned to express their views on the issues involved including those to which the hon. Member has referred. More generally, the Government's policy is that the role of Prestwick and other airports in Scotland should be a matter for the proposed Scottish Assembly.
