§ Mr. McCuskerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many myoelectric hands have been issued to disabled children in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. Carter:None. The myoelectric hand is not available for general issue under the Health Service as it is still in the testing stage. Steps have been taken to identify suitable children to take part in trials of the hand at the limb fitting centres at Roehampton and Manchester but so far no disabled children in Northern Ireland have been found who would be suitable for inclusion in the trials.
