§ Mr. Reidasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the economic prospects for deer farming in Scotland, based on assessments by the Highlands and Islands Development Board at Rahoy, and at other centres.

BrownI am encouraged by the results to date of the work carried out by the Highlands and Islands Development Board and by the Rowett Research Institute in collaboration with the Hill Farming Research Organisation. I am sure that both the board and these research institutes would be willing to provide the hon. Member with information on the progress of their work.
